I have recently been leading a project for PlanB, where we helped a marketing/logistics firm achieve ISO 22301 (with one minor non-conformity!). Critically, it should embrace and involve IT, not only with regards to Disaster Recovery, but also day-to-day operations. I would consider a good BCMS to operate like an octopus.

NOTE: DRII takes this definition from the Business Continuity Institute BCI and Disaster Recovery Journal DRJ. Such roles should include Business Continuity Plan Owner and one alternate as well as team members responsible for implementing the BCP Procedures and strategies listed within the business continuity plans.
