The tournament was established in 2014 to support longtime SIA NCRSF member David Sawczuk following his family’s life-changing rehabilitation experiences with the institute. In 2007, Sawczuk’s son Benjamin – who was eight years old at the time – was struck by a car while riding his bicycle alongside a road.

To date, the annual tournament has raised over $500,000 in donations toward the center’s brain injury research, patient transition efforts from hospital to home and urgently needed wheelchairs.
