Now, there are some alternate points of view for mass shootings. The circumstances are a bit different. In the workplace, workers generally know their facility, as opposed to some street corner or a bar or ballroom. Either way, fleeing in the opposite direction toward an exit, away from the shooter, is a common sense action to take.
But here is an alternative view that is making the rounds: “‘Run, hide, fight’ tactic in active shootings may be outdated, security experts say.”
I know what I think I would do, but, in the heat of the moment when “fight or flee” kicks in, it might be anyone’s guess, and of course it depends on the situation. Are your grandchildren with you? Can you possibly get them to safety? Seems like a higher priority than taking the shooter down. Or, maybe based on your position to the shooter, your best bet is “to attack.”
