An off-year election was held last Tuesday. One interesting commentary I heard on the radio was that Andy Beshear, the sitting governor of Kentucky, was successful in being re-elected to office.
One reason given in the commentary was that there had been a series of terrible disasters that impacted the state and the governor’s success in responding to these disasters was one element that helped him survive a very strong challenge. If it is true, let that be a warning or suggestion to new governors to be sure and respond quickly to disasters and to show empathy for those impacted by the destruction that they bring.
