Someone I know shared how back then he saw a sign in the window of a business, "We'll be back in two weeks!" Little did they know that two weeks would turn into two years for some people. If anything out of the pandemic was a surprise in months of surprises, it was the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic. It just keeps rolling along!
The latest news has new variants popping up internationally. Here in the Pacific Northwest we are seeing an uptick in cases — thank you Easter celebrations!
As people have said, we may be over with COVID-19, but COVID-19 is not over with us. In my office of 10 people, two have come down with COVID-19 in the last 14-16 days. One just returning from a week of travel and conferences, with up to 2,000 people in attendance.
Some places are taking a very conservative response approach. Senior living facilities are banning guests, requiring masks indoors, canceling group activities, to include group dining. Is it an overreaction? I don't think so for the age group being served. Even for the folks who are now double boosted, you can still contract the disease.
