One Upside of Climate Change and Disasters: Sales of Generators Are Up!

For every downside there can be upsides.

There isn’t a region of our nation or the world that is not subject to disasters. One of the most common outcomes from disasters is that people lose electric power.

In the 21st century, going without electricity is more than a simple inconvenience. When the “juice” stops flowing, everything about our modern way of living also comes to a screeching halt.

See this NPR story, “Home generator sales are booming with mass outages, climate change and COVID.”

As noted in the story, and which I appreciated, are the comments about safety. Carbon monoxide is a major concern, but burns and fires are also not uncommon if people are not practicing all the safety precautions.

See this Disaster Zone TV segment I did a few years back on generator safety: “Hooking Up a Generator Safely.”

Brandon Hardenbrook shared the above NPR story.
