The FFY23 NOFO May Be Coming Out on May 13

That means a very short turnaround on project submissions.

I got the following “edited information” as it relates to Port Security Grants:

“Reference, Port Security Grants (PSG). CGHQ received the following update/info from FEMA.

1. NOFO is slated to be released on Friday, May 13, 2022.

2. Application period will be short… 30 days, running from Friday, May 13 to Monday, June 13, 2022.

3. National priorities of Enhancing Cybersecurity and Protecting Soft Target & Crowded Places are eligible for 20% score boost from National Review Panel.

4. Planning, Training & Awareness, Equipment & Capital, and Exercises also remain as eligible project types.”

The bump up in cybersecurity percentage is not a big surprise given the most current cybersecurity warnings we’ve received on threats from Russia and others.

I’m also expecting a few twists and turns when it comes to other grant categories. I’m betting the war in Ukraine caused staff at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to look at grant priorities through a different lens. Watch for maybe a bit of a civil defense twist to what the instructions have to say about threats and preparedness.
