Disaster Zone Podcast: Best Practices in Implementing Unified Command

Learn how, when and where to do it right.

I write a monthly Disaster Zone column for the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). A future topic that I’ll get to later this year is about implementation of the Incident Command System (ICS). I see many organizations state that they are using ICS for a variety of purposes and it appears to be more of a Burger King approach of “have it your way.” For lack of a better term, they “bastardized” ICS to fit what they want to do — and call it ICS.

One of the most difficult and least understood aspects of ICS is the implementation of what is called “unified command.”

I think this a terrific discussion on “Best Practices in Implementing Unified Command.”

You will learn something about ICS and unified command that you can apply today!
