COVID-19: To Boost or Not to Boost?

I’m boosting!

It is a personal decision point for everyone who is now eligible for the second booster vaccination for COVID-19 virus protection.

My wife and I are both in the appropriate age group to get a booster vaccination and we are now five months past the first booster shot we got on Oct. 25, 2021.

I’ve spoken with a few other people who are “holding off,” citing the Israel study that shows the protection from a second booster shot wears off pretty quickly.

My thinking — besides the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommendation — is that the omicron subvariant BA.2 is now the dominant variant and as we have seen, some national-level politicians are testing positive.

I’m guessing that there will be another variant and/or surge in cases this coming fall, which will be another five to six months away. So, we will get our booster shot on Sunday and then be eligible again in the fall when another surge arrives.

Not very scientific, but this is my thinking.
