Two Introductions – InfoScale 8.0, and a new InfoScale Technical Evangelist

The first introduction is InfoScale 8.0, which includes optimized support for containers!  This includes your Kubernetes environments and Red Hat’s OpenShift Container Platform, to be specific.  We’ve taken our industry-leading InfoScale software-defined storage platform and containerized it for easy consumption in Kubernetes environments.  Not only do we provide a CSI plug-in for storage management, but we still maintain the best-in-class storage virtualization capabilities, including Cluster File System and Cluster Volume Manager.

If you’re not familiar with InfoScale, you don’t know what you’re missing!  The short version is that it’s cross-platform storage and availability management.  We can provide almost the exact same capabilities on all the major platforms – AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, Windows, VMware, and now Kubernetes.  It’s the same user experience and management as well.

I’ve been working on this product for a long time (more about that later), and we used to sell this to customers using exactly what I just said – “oh, you’re planning on moving from <high-priced Unix variant here> to Linux?  Then you definitely need Storage Foundation… we can move all the data across between variants (yes, even including little-endian to big-endian conversions in the file system!) and provide the same look, feel, and management tools between the platforms – your administrators don’t have to learn a new platform at all!”

Now, as we see companies start to move from cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, and other enterprise cloud offerings) and bare-metal to containerized applications, we can say the same thing about InfoScale that we used to say about Storage Foundation—“oh, you’re moving to containers?  Take InfoScale with you!  Not only is it the same look and feel that you’re using now, but we integrate into your K8s platforms to provide the same functionality behind the scenes!”

There’s tons of information out now about InfoScale 8.0, and we’re publishing more all the time, now that it’s officially been released!  For more information, or to set up a demo, contact your sales rep.

Now… the second introduction—me!  I’m glad to be coming back to Veritas after ten years away.  Before I left, I was an SE Architect, responsible for selling Storage Foundation (the old name for InfoScale, for those of you who didn’t know that) into various accounts.  I’ve done some technical marketing and product management work, and now I’m back here, doing Technical Evangelism for InfoScale, so you’ll be hearing a lot more from me in the future!
