New Security Industry Association (SIA) member Vader Security is a cybersecurity company at the vanguard in defense and offensive cybersecurity practices. The company is headquartered in White Mountains, New Hampshire, with its primary market and most staff in the United States but with additional key staff located in Asia to ensure clean network standards and tight cyber integration go into new product development.

SIA spoke with Alex Downs, co-founder of Vader Security, about the company, the security industry and working with SIA.

Tell us the story of your company.

Alex Downs: Vader Security is a cybersecurity company. We provide end-to-end cybersecurity solutions, such as black, grey and white-box testing, so that systems and infrastructure are secured from cyberattacks. We also work closely with hardware and software vendors to ensure deployable solutions are robust.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

AD: Vader Security provides a full suite of services ranging from keeping companies in compliance to full red-team testing.

We understand that some industries are heavily targeted, and Vader brings the skill, innovation and know-how to fully secure these types of critical infrastructure and housing of intellectual property.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

AD: At Vader, we are seeing a lot of demand coming from custom exploits, which allows a high degree of security to be achieved. We have also seen the commoditization of automation tools, due to their limitations as this industry evolves.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

Chris Downs, co-founder, Vader Security

AD: We are proud to be a member of SIA. We would like to get to know the members.

We are very interested to share our skills and know-how to support member companies with deployment of secure systems. We hope that some of the members will partner with Vader Security when considering their cybersecurity needs.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

AD: We would like to meet with the members at the monthly events and also collaborate with committee members, where we seek to contribute. We also hope that SIA will be a good place to scout for talented individuals as Vader Security grows.
