Multi-Sector Guide to Pandemic Economic Resilience and Related Workbook

It is not an after action report, it is a map forward for businesses and governments.

I’m reminded of the phrase, “To forget the past is to repeat it!” Most emergency managers and many others are ready to move on down the line and put the COVID-19 pandemic in the rearview mirror. While that is the urge, I do think capturing lessons learned and “applying them for the future” and not just documenting them is something we should attend to.

See the announcement below that is coming from the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region (PNWER) and the Center for Regional Disaster Resilience (CRDR) for a virtual event where you can get information on the work that has been done and then the guide and workbook that will be available for anyone to download and use.

I can’t stress enough that this is a future-looking document that governments and businesses can use. The economic impacts of the pandemic were so severe, there are proactive steps everyone can take now to become better prepared for the next pandemic — and there will be one! Or any other disaster — there are elements of the workbook that are applicable.

I’d also note that next week’s Disaster Zone podcast will be an interview with Betz Mayer, the program manager responsible for the work that is described below that will be covered in the official launch coming up soon.

Here are the details:

“After three years of living with the COVID-19 pandemic, and more than 25 monthly COVID-19 Recovery Calls, the EDA-funded Pandemic Resilience Roadmap is almost finished. Please join us for a digital launch event for the Roadmap, now known as the Multi-Sector Guide to Pandemic Economic Resilience and related Workbook on Wednesday, March 29 at 11 am Pacific (12 pm Mountain).

“Registration is available here or at: bit.ly/GuideLaunch23.

“This webinar will provide an overview on how to use the Guide and Workbook, where to find it, and how to make sure folks in your networks are aware of this tool for pandemic economic resilience and cross-sector collaboration!

“I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your participation in our COVID-19 Recovery series, which was a major component of our work on the Multi-Sector Guide to Pandemic Economic Resilience. We explored a wide range of topics in this webinar series, and it was great to have a variety of folks from the U.S. and Canada tune in and provide their thoughts on the pandemic-focused topic of the month.

“All of the webinar recordings are available on the PNWER website at www.pnwer.org/covid19-recovery-call. On March 29, you will also be able to access the Multi-Sector Guide to Pandemic Economic Resilience and associated Workbook from that site.

“I look forward to having you all attend our launch event for the Multi-Sector Guide to Pandemic Economic Resilience on March 29!”
