New FEMA Social Media Class

IS-42.A: Social Media in Emergency Management

I remember, back in the day, when I asked a nationally known local emergency management director what she was doing or contemplating doing with social media for her emergency management program. The reply was, “I don’t personally use social media.” To which I suggested that while that might be true, her program could use it. The conversation went nowhere.

Fast forward to today, and there is a new and improved three-hour online course on social media being offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA): IS-42.A: Social Media in Emergency Management. I think everyone in emergency management needs to be skookum in social media.
