• With expectations high for 2023, the March/April SIA Security Market Index (SMI) survey of security professionals found that 80% of respondents have a positive view of the industry’s current condition. • SIA presented seven new members to the SIA Board of Directors at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership gathering, held March 28 during ISC West, and the SIA Board of Directors confirmed its new officers during the board’s March 28 meeting at ISC West. SIA’s newest vertical market report, produced for SIA members by Omdia, examines key market drivers and barriers for the higher education security vertical, how the higher education and K-12 markets differ and how to win business with higher education end users. • SIA has announced the 2023 winners of the SIA New Products and Solutions (NPS) Awards, the flagship awards program presented in partnership with ISC West recognizing innovative security products, services and solutions. • SIA and Expo Seguridad Mexico have announced SIA’s new role as Premier Sponsor of Expo Seguridad Mexico, the largest event for the security industry in Latin America. This partnership, announced during ISC West 2023, is one of the key efforts led by SIA’s reconstituted International Relations Committee, which works to internationally represent and advocate for SIA members in the security industry. • The SIA Executive Committee has named Joseph (Joe) Grillo as an honorary SIA member. Grillo – a security industry veteran, a longtime SIA member and the founder and former CEO of ACRE, LLC – is one of only five individuals to have received this honor, joining fellow honorary members Les Gold, Sandy Jones, Dave McGowan and Scott Schafer. SIA recognized Grillo at its Executive Reception taking place March 28 during ISC West.
• The Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) has released the sixth edition of its Safety and Security Guidelines for K-12 Schools, which offer the most comprehensive information available on nationwide best practices specifically for securing school facilities, from subject matter experts across the education, public safety and industry sectors.
