Heat, wildfires and wildfire smoke are impacting communities.

It wasn’t that long ago that here in the Pacific Northwest we were more concerned about winter hazards that could impact people and property. Now with climate change impacting the world as a whole, we are seeing summer hazards ratchet up in the areas of heat emergencies and wildfires — plus, the impact of wildfire smoke.

Watch this short interview with Brendan McCluskey, director of the King County Office of Emergency Management. He outlines the risks and then some of the things that can be done, including neighbors helping neighbors during a disaster.
