Most of the customers that meet with them tell me they’re implementing a hybrid-cloud strategy as part of their long-term data protection infrastructure. Reason being; by allowing long-term retention (LTR) data to move between on-prem and public clouds as users’ access requirements change, a hybrid cloud strategy gives their businesses greater flexibility and more data deployment options.

For IT, this means two things:

  1. The on-premises infrastructure must have the agility of the cloud, supporting elastic scalability, self-service capabilities, deployment simplicity and cloud economics.
  2. The on-prem storage solution must be cloud-agnostic, supporting multiple cloud environments and a full range of private and public cloud platforms. Preferably the storage solution vendor will have a deep business relationship with the cloud vendor.

One of the primary benefits of using an on-prem LTR solution complemented by a hybrid cloud environment is the ability to centrally manage your storage tiers both on-premises or in the cloud. With the right LTR solution you can flexibly provision cloud storage platforms as a low-cost storage tier while still meeting your organization’s SLAs, performance and compliance requirements.

Veritas @Aws Re:invent

Veritas recently upgraded its entire data management software portfolio with extensive support for hybrid and public clouds—including extended integration with Amazon S3.

The deeper integration with Amazon cloud is key among the conversations we’ll be having at the up-coming AWS Reinvent conference in Las Vegas, including the value of Veritas Access with Amazon cloud.

Veritas Access is a software-defined, long-term retention storage solution that can be installed on anyScreen Shot 2018-11-20 at 9.58.45 AM.png x

86 commodity server or be acquired as a turn-key appliance. It provides access to data using multiple network protocols for on-premises and cloud ecosystems such as Amazon Web Services (AWS). Veritas Access enables cost-optimized LTR storage on AWS by offering intelligent AWS cloud storage tiering.

For hybrid cloud data protection workloads, Veritas Access can easily provision AWS S3 storage as a low-cost storage tier by automating the migration of that data to AWS. With Veritas Access, organizations of any size can now take full advantage of the AWS cloud to realize significant cost savings, while enabling their IT teams to be more productive.
