Staying Cyber-Safe

A few tips all of us should follow.

Cybersecurity is an ever-present concern for anyone who is on the Internet — today that means almost everyone!

I came across these few tips and figured you might find one or more of them beneficial. I guess the one thing I’ll add here is think “Shields Up!” when on your computer!

Secure Data Recovery polled Americans from all 50 states to find out which residents are most vulnerable to digital threats.

Findings:

  • 79 percent of Americans are vulnerable because they don’t use auto-generated passwords.
  • Of those who stay digitally safe, 71 percent do so by keeping their phone number, email address, and home address off social media.
  • Overall, women are more digitally vulnerable than men, however, women back up their information more frequently than men.
  • Only around half (51 percent) of those surveyed automatically back up their devices on a regular basis and even fewer (39 percent) keep a copy on the cloud.
  • On a positive note, the majority of Americans take some steps to protect their devices from hacking.

Take a look at the full report which includes a list of best and worst practices for staying digitally secure.
