A Bigger Tsunami Predicted for Seattle

Modeling shows a bigger surge of water.

The Seattle Fault runs directly across Puget Sound, a waterway that the city of Seattle is immediately adjacent to.

Now there is this news: “Earthquake would trigger 20-foot tsunami in Seattle within 3 minutes, state report says.”

This is not the big wave that will take 20-30 minutes to hit the Washington coast. This one will happen in seconds in some places. When this fault last ruptured the ground moved 20 feet up and down, because it is a thrust fault.

Here’s another news report that includes the simulation.
