Disaster Zone Podcast: ‘Long-term Climate Impacts on the Weather’

How climate change is impacting our weather and disasters.

My guest for this Disaster Zone podcast, “Long-term Climate Impacts on the Weather,” is a long-term “weatherperson” who has spent his professional life trying to help emergency managers and others deal with what the weather is going to be and also engaged in warning people and organizations when disastrous weather conditions threaten.

Over my tenure in emergency management I’ve seen the National Weather Service (NWS) get much more accurate at forecasting the typical weather we all want to know about — e.g., a 40 percent chance of rain starting at noon today where I live. And, when storms and atmospheric rivers are headed our way, providing the warning about them and, unfortunately, more recently Heat Warnings, even here in the Pacific Northwest.
