Would it surprise you to know that most technology companies have an average lifespan of seven years, and only about 3% survive past the 10-year mark? If you think about it, and the very rapid changes in the technology sector, it makes a lot of sense. Technology changes fast, and few companies can keep up or remain relevant with the speed of these changes. That’s why, as I sit here and reflect on Acronis hitting the 20-year mark, I am filled with pride at what we have been able to accomplish for our partners, customers, employees and our community. 

A startup company begins by attempting to solve a problem or doing something better than its competitors in an industry. But that’s not enough. To remain relevant, the company has to change with the market and the evolving needs of the customers. We originally secured our place in the market with Acronis True Image backup for home users and Acronis Backup for businesses. However, increases in cybercrime and operational complexity have necessitated the need for a more comprehensive solution. Customers were struggling with multiple, often incompatible products from different vendors. Managed service providers (MSPs) had a hard time integrating all the necessary tools into their ecosystem. The Acronis product evolution met these needs by creating a platform that integrated backup, cybersecurity, and workload management in an easy-to-use and understand interface. As a result, 20 years after our founding, I get to talk about beating the statistics I mentioned above.

Since launching in Singapore as a backup solution in 2003, Acronis has expanded our service offerings immensely. As the CEO of Acronis since 2021, I couldn’t be more proud of our company’s trajectory and the growth it has achieved in the preceding decades.

What started as a backup solution 20 years ago has grown into a complete cyber protection platform for MSPs, thanks to our understanding of the market and collaboration with our partners. With more than 200 U.S. and international invention patents in our portfolio, we are committed to pushing the limits of innovation and providing the most complete solution to protect all data, applications, and systems. In response to market demands and requests from our partners, we have released Acronis Notary as a tool to prove data authenticity, Acronis Active Protection to detect and prevent ransomware attacks, and launched Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud with advanced packs, unifying data protection, cyber protection, backup, and many other security and management features. Working with Acronis, MSPs can rest assured that their clients' workloads are safe, no matter where they are.

We’ve also found unique ways to help our partners be successful. Watching our #TeamUp program bring MSPs together with world-class sports teams is an amazing experience. I will never forget the looks on our partners’ faces as they beam with pride when their names appear behind their favorite players on TV or online.

The Acronis Cyber Foundation Program continues to exceed expectations and bring people together to deliver aid to those in need. So far, in just five years, the program has expanded to over 25 countries, partnering with foundations such as the Bulgarian Red Cross and UNICEF. In 2022 alone, the program built five new schools, among other humanitarian efforts, supporting over 5,000 children, and supplying aid to over 3,500 people impacted in Ukraine and over 3,000 people in Turkey.

This 20th-anniversary milestone is really only the beginning. It’s the start of a new era that will include 20 more years of innovation at Acronis. We will continue to focus on ensuring the success of our partners, regularly delivering innovative solutions that solve important problems they or their customers might face.

I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of our global team who has driven us to reaching this milestone. Beyond our dedicated staff, this success is also a testament to our partners, investors and everyone that has used our products and supported our organization over the years.

Having a front-row seat to these amazing developments as Acronis climbs the ranks in cyber protection and supports the communities around us is an extremely rewarding experience, and I look forward to continuing the tradition of Acronis leading the industry through technical innovation with a focus on making our customers and employees successful.
