Tell us the story of your company.

Jake Fruchter: TYMETAL Corp. is a subsidiary of the Fort Miller Group and was founded in 1985. At the time, our sister company, which is in the fencing and access control markets, was facing consistent lead-time constraints when ordering security gates for its projects. The leadership of the Fort Miller Group saw an opportunity, and the decision was made to begin manufacturing cantilevered slide gates to meet the needs in the market. Over the past 38 years, TYMETAL has grown its security gate and crash barrier offerings, becoming an industry leader that offers consistently quick order turnarounds and excels when custom solutions are needed to address the more difficult security challenges, while still being sensitive to clients’ demanding timelines.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

JF: Our core product line is focused on perimeter security, with our company tagline being “We Close Openings.”  We have a diverse catalog of security gates, including aluminum cantilever slide gates, box frame roller gates, overhead slide gates, swing gates, vertical lift gates, bifold gates and a newly released vertical pivot gate. We also have crash-certified gates, beams and barriers, as well as bollards and crash-certified and engineered fencing solutions. Our quality and reputation in the marketplace is second to none, and we are the premier option when it comes to closing large openings. Our specifications and design team and our engineering department are unique resources that architects, engineers, designers and end users have found invaluable in developing their perimeter security solutions. TYMETAL also has a fully staffed technical services team that are available to assist at all stages of the project, including on-site support and commissioning.  We provide support through the entire timeline of our projects – from design to quoting to manufacturing to installation and even technical support through the life of our perimeter security offerings, TYMETAL is always available to support our products and customers.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

JF: TYMETALis constantly innovating, developing new products and improving our existing catalogue offerings. In the last two years, we have developed an articulating crash beam, a telescoping cantilever gate design and our own vertical pivot gate. We are also in the final testing stages of a bidirectional crash gate, which is a specific security need that we are seeing in the market.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

JF: We have three priorities that guide how we operate our business:

  • All at TYMETAL are responsible for customer satisfaction
  • All at TYMETAL must operate with a sense of urgency
  • All at TYMETAL must operate with a sense of ownership – “I Got This”

As our product offerings are critical to securing our end users’ sites, our entire team understands that time is of the essence from the time an initial inquiry comes in all the way through the delivery of our products to the job site. We also embrace the unique and custom projects that many perimeter security manufacturers avoid. The experience and knowledge of our specifications and design and engineering teams allow us to work with all stakeholders to find the best solution for their project.
