Ricardo Amper is founder and CEO of Incode.

Ricardo Amper: I founded Incode Technologies in 2015 along with a group of hard-working, goal-crushing individuals. Whereas Incode had originally started as a photo-sharing service provider, the company pivoted into facial recognition several years ago and quickly proved successful in iBeta testing of its liveness detection technology. Not only did we have the industry’s fastest and most secure passive liveness technology, but we also had the background in consumer technology to build a seamless and convenient experience into the product.

We decided to build an omnichannel, privacy-centric identity solution called Incode Omni, bringing authentication, digital and physical onboarding and ID verification under one platform in an easy-to-integrate modular way. Built for the next generation of consumers, Incode’s innovative identity solutions help the world’s largest banks, financial institutions, governments and retailers increase revenue and reduce fraud while providing users with convenience without compromising privacy and security.

Incode made a big splash with the news that we had raised a total of $255 million in funding over three rounds on the strength of the Incode Omni identity platform.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings/company unique?

RA: Leveraging advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, Incode develops cutting-edge identity solutions that address a diverse range of real-world challenges in the identity management landscape. Incode solutions are extremely fast, accurate and powerful in biometric performance. Designed for ease of use and tailored to meet specific identity needs, they enable smooth, secure, privacy-enabled and user-friendly identity verification processes in which people themselves are the only documentation needed to prove their identity.

Incode raised the industry bar with its fully automated, end-to-end orchestration platform – Incode Omni – that enables seamless access across multiple channels with products focused on verification and authentication. Our solution is used across the entire customer experience, including onboarding, login and password recovery. What makes Incode solutions compelling are:

  • On-the-edge capabilities that keep data on the device
  • Orchestration capabilities that provide flexible workflows and custom user experiences
  • Information architecture centered on user consent
  • Proprietary core technology developed in-house reducing vendor complexity
  • Secure partnerships with government organizations and regulated public entities
  • Secure authentication capabilities that eliminate the need for passwords

The company is recognized as a leader in enterprise-grade facial recognition technology by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, building the customer experience of the future while helping businesses increase conversion rates and reduce fraud.

What’s something we might not know about your company – or something new you’re doing in security?

RA: On the product side, Incode developed a new feature called “Tamper check and ID liveness,” which can perform tests on ID documents and detect potential fakes, tampered or photoshopped documents. With this technology, Incode can detect and authenticate if a photo has been altered, contains manipulated images, is a photo of a photo or is a photograph of a screen versus a person. This novel security feature has helped consumers avoid fraudulent online schemes of stolen identity, which, according to the National Council on Identity Theft Protection, occurs every 22 seconds in the United States. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated this existing issue.

Recently, Incode partnered with the owner of a few prominent football teams in Mexico to enhance stadium security and community strategy and ensure the well-being of attendees. The integration of Incode’s technology with the customer’s program helps increase security measures at the stadium in accordance with new regulations put forth as a result of a 2022 riot that occurred between fans. In addition to security benefits, this technology improves fans’ experiences across the entire stadium, prioritizing their safety and reducing entry wait times.

Incode also recently partnered with a smart hospitality solutions provider with the mission of transforming hospitality services by deploying identity verification during check-in and checkout processes through enhanced digital biometric technology. Hotel guests crave seamless experiences when they travel. Long check-in processes and complex payment procedures can ruin a guest’s stay. Incode’s identity verification solution offers transparent guest identification, automated digital ID creation, seamlessly integrated experience and contactless payments to remove these challenges and help maximize the digital guest experience, without compromising on security or privacy.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

RA: Incode’s vision is “One Identity Everywhere.” Our mission is to power a world of trust by democratizing access to resources and critical services. The company envisions a future of frictionless, highly secure and privacy-minded relationships that democratize access and scale to never-before-seen levels. Today’s barriers of clunky identity experiences, privacy gaps, vulnerability-laden technologies and higher costs will cease to exist once trust is marginalized. With its mission of mapping together the identity of mankind and deep focus on the enterprise, the company is growing exponentially. Incode is committed to building its global go-to-market operations and channel strategy and massively accelerating worldwide growth as the next-generation leader in digital identity.

Incode will stand at the center of this future, powering trust with a single identity layer that is pervasive yet fully transparent to a user’s day-to-day interactions. Built by a vibrant community with a nonconformist attitude, only Incode can harness the collective power of foresight, technology and community to zealously meet today’s requirements while preparing for a future of unprecedented experiences.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

RA: The future of identity authentication requires a privacy-preserving trust layer that eliminates the tradeoff between speed and security.

Incode takes this challenge head-on with a solution that uniquely balances privacy, security and performance while providing businesses with the opportunity to increase revenue and onboard more customers. Based on the highest security and encryption standards, Incode’s advanced technology proves to reduce potential exposure to spoofing attacks, significantly streamlining identity processes.

What are the biggest challenges facing your company and/or others in the security industry?

RA: The increased demand for digital solutions is forcing companies to rethink their customer interactions. Consumers want secure, seamless and privacy-centric experiences. Identity solution providers have to be bold and innovative in their approach to developing solutions that will meet this demand without creating friction for the end user.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership?
