Connie Moorhead: CMOOR Group began in 2000 when I had a revelation about the security industry and its dire need of training for its technicians, installers, project managers – all the technical field personnel. I had recently worked for a company where I was in charge of technical training in the construction space. Unfortunately, that organization did not survive the technology bubble burst of 2000. While driving to the unemployment office, I thought of “The CMOOR Group” and turned the car around! My vision was to use technology to bridge the digital divide that existed in the security space.

I saw something radically different for an industry that could benefit from it most – training field personnel anytime, anywhere and at the pace of the learner! The CMOOR Group went on to build the security industry’s first true e-learning programs for trade associations, manufacturers and integrators. CMOOR also launched the industry’s first online continuing education portal, SecurityCEU.com. That was over 23 years ago. Today, CMOOR is the gold standard in security education and compliance solutions. We have launched our SUTRA learning management system (LMS) in over 11 languages and have provided custom e-learning development in over 19 languages.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

CM: CMOOR is edtech for the security space – we offer a LMS built from the ground up for this niche market; we provide continuing education through our security training portal, SecurityCEU.com; we also offer our Obsequio compliance management system, which tracks, reports on and automates the license and certification renewal processes; and we develop custom courses for our clients who want standards-based, interactive content. What makes us truly unique is our exclusive focus on the security, fire and life safety space is our full suite of products and services surrounding education and compliance – no one else offers the solutions we do from one organization that has deep knowledge and expertise in our target market.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

CM: You might not know that our Obsequio compliance management system has been awarded the ISC West MVP Award in 2019 and won the prestigious Security Solutions Award in 2023! You might not know that CMOOR provides technical support to all our course and system users 24/7/365 via chat, email and phone. And you might not know that CMOOR is the engine behind some powerhouse industry names, including ADI Global Academy, The Monitoring Association training program, the WBFAA Apprentice Training Program and DITEK University.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

CM: Our vision is to revolutionize the security, fire and life safety industry by becoming the industry’s most trusted educational hub. Our vision is to be the global gold standard in security, fire and life safety education, shaping an industry defined by its multifaceted technology needs, a highly skilled workforce and professionals equipped to navigate the complexities of the modern world.

By bridging the generational knowledge gap and setting the standard for continuing education and compliance, our vision is to be the catalyst for individual and organizational excellence, fostering a safer, more secure world.

Through cutting-edge course and system development methodologies, our vision is to set the global standard for educational content that is both comprehensive and accessible. We aim to transform the way professionals learn and grow, creating a culture of continuous improvement that makes compliance not just a requirement, but a mark of expertise. In doing so, we will close the generational knowledge gap and prepare the industry for a safer, smarter future.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

CM: We see the biggest opportunities in the industry to center around finding and retaining top talent, hiring people who have cross-functional expertise from physical security to cybersecurity and closing the generational knowledge gap so that security companies can experience aggressive growth and sustainability.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

CM: SIA has long been understood to provide valuable resources and opportunities to its members. Most important to CMOOR would be the research SIA does and summarizes for the entire industry, as well as the extraordinary networking events. Of course, ISC is the “go to” show for security pros as well.

How does your organization engage with SIA? What are your plans for involvement in the next year?

CM: I participate in the SIA Women in Security Forum (WISF), which has been a great way to meet other women in the industry. I was honored to be included on the SIA WISF Power 100 list its inaugural year. Recognition of the women in the industry, their struggles and achievements is critically important. I plan to get involved in other ways as well, including ambassadorship, mentoring and volunteering on committees.
