  • The latest industry confidence numbers are here! Coming off a successful ISC West 2023, the SIA May/June Security Market Index found 77% of respondents have a positive view of the industry’s current condition, and attendees of ISC West discussed this year’s strong show.   • The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) has opened the call for nominations for the inaugural FAST Security Technician of the Year Awards, an initiative recognizing security technicians who have demonstrated excellence, premier customer service and leadership within their organizations. Honorees selected in this year’s award program will be recognized Nov. 15 at ISC East. Learn more and submit a nomination here.
  • The deadline has been extended to submit a speaking proposal for the SIA Education@ISC conferences at ISC East 2023 (Nov. 14-16 in NYC) and ISC West 2024 (April 9-12 in Las Vegas). Last chance; ideas due June 16! Learn more and get started here.

  • On May 24, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed into law an omnibus appropriations bill which includes a comprehensive right to repair law that will go into effect on July 1, 2024. SIA’s Colby Williams highlights what the new legislation means for the security industry in this blog.
  • SIA has successfully completed the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) reaccreditation process for its standards development program. SIA is committed to continue developing its industry standards in accordance with ANSI requirements and invites members to get involved.
  • On June 21, SIA, ALAS, CANASA and Euralarm invite you to attend a multi-association virtual panel discussion on cybersecurity strategies for physical security and the importance of a holistic approach to cybersecurity.
