Based on what I “normally read and see,” you would think that their primary use was for improving disaster situational awareness like the tornado outbreak that recently happened in the southeast.
However, the data says something different: “Disaster-mapping drones often neglect deadliest, costliest events and hardest-hit areas.”
This is not all bad in that prevention via mitigation is key to disaster resilience. Interesting to note that when drones are used for situational awareness, once again we have lower income areas that often suffer the worst damages not getting the attention that they deserve from drone operators.
