Alan Stoddard: The story of Intellicene is one of transformation, adaptation and finally finding a stable platform for growth and innovation. The company started as a division focused on situational intelligence solutions within Verint. During this time, it aimed to address significant market needs, providing intelligent software platforms that help organizations better understand and respond to mission-critical events. However, a corporate restructuring saw it becoming a part of another company, Cognyte. Although the name changed, its mission remained consistent. But the company struggled with a sense of identity and direction, being part of organizations whose focus differed from its own specialized objectives. This chapter closed with the acquisition by Volaris Group in early 2023. I feel that as an organization, we have finally found our “home.” The acquisition provides Intellicene the stability it needs to continue its mission, while also giving it the freedom and resources to innovate and explore new market opportunities. Volaris’ buy-and-hold philosophy was particularly appealing, as it allows Intellicene to think long-term, something that may not have been feasible under its previous organizations.

Today, Intellicene stands at the intersection of awareness, insight and action. Its software platforms offer intelligent solutions that help organizations sift through large volumes of data to extract meaningful insights. As it turns out, this focus is more critical than ever, given the increasing complexity and data dependency of security challenges organizations face today.

We’ve had a busy year rolling out our new brand and telling our story to our customers and partners. We’re also continuing to innovate by taking ambitious steps towards supporting our position as a global security intelligence leader. By positioning Intellicene in what we call the “Age of Intelligence,” we aim to empower organizations with the tools and insights they need to navigate an increasingly complex and data-driven world effectively.

Intellicene’s story is one of evolution – from a promising division within a larger organization to a specialized entity struggling for identity, and finally to a company poised for growth, innovation and industry leadership, with the backing of a parent company that shares its long-term vision.

What solutions/services does your business offer in the security industry? And what makes your offerings or your company unique?

AS: Intellicene delivers intelligent platforms designed to empower organizations in making informed, mission-critical decisions. What distinguishes us is our unique positioning at the intersection of awareness, insight and action. We understand that in today’s world, security professionals are inundated with vast amounts of data from a myriad of connected devices and systems. Our technology not only aggregates this data but transforms it into actionable insights through advanced algorithms for pattern recognition, predictive modeling and real-time analytics. Add to this our advanced visualization tools that put these insights into context, and you have a comprehensive security management suite.

What is something we might not know about your company – or something new you are doing in security?

AS: While Intellicene has always been strong in developing advanced software for gathering intelligence and identifying risks, we also have a mobile response component to our technology stack. Symphia NowForce brings an added dimension of real-time response capabilities to the table. This means that we offer a complete, end-to-end solution, from intelligence gathering to risk identification and, finally, to coordinated and efficient response. By incorporating NowForce’s technology, we’re taking the “data problem” in security one step further. We’re not just helping organizations identify threats – we’re also empowering them to act swiftly and decisively, all within a single, integrated platform.

What is your company’s vision, and what are your goals for the security industry?

AS: Our vision is to be the global leader in security intelligence, serving as the nexus of awareness, insight and action for organizations worldwide. We aim to help businesses and security leaders cut through the cacophony of data, identifying what truly matters for their operations, assets and people. In an ever-complex landscape, we aim to be the lighthouse guiding our clients toward actionable insights and effective solutions.

I believe we are uniquely positioned to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the security industry. One of the major challenges in the industry is data overload. Organizations are drowning in information but are often starved of insight. By integrating cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, we aim to help organizations identify the data needed to embrace a proactive approach to security. We also want to help security leaders automate the labor-intensive tasks that often bog down security operations centers. We want to give them the tools necessary to focus on decision making and strategic initiatives.

What do you think are the biggest opportunities in the security industry right now?

AS: I believe we’re at a pivotal moment in the security industry, with multiple opportunities for significant advancement. To start, the incorporation of AI and machine learning is a game-changer. These innovative technologies are poised to streamline operations and offer transformative analytics, enhancing our capability to proactively mitigate risks and fine-tune response strategies.

Secondly, the expansion of connected devices is opening up new avenues for security innovation. By effectively leveraging the data generated by interconnected devices, we can dramatically improve situational awareness and security response times.

Cybersecurity has also surged in importance, especially as businesses increasingly rely on networked devices and solutions. Companies offering robust, layered security frameworks will be best positioned to lead in this critical arena.

Finally, there’s a heightened focus on taking an integrated view of security. This involves merging physical and digital security, along with identifying risks and facilitating rapid responses. It’s about creating an ecosystem of security, and this holistic approach is where we see the future of the industry heading.

What do you enjoy most about being at your company – and in the security industry?

AS: For me, it’s about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives and businesses. Security isn’t just about technology; it’s about protecting what matters most – people, assets and information. Knowing that our solutions play a critical role in that regard is incredibly rewarding.

The industry itself is in a fascinating stage of evolution, embracing technologies like AI, machine learning and the Internet of Things. This opens up an array of possibilities to innovate and redefine what’s possible in security.

I also appreciate the team I work with at Intellicene; their passion and expertise make it possible for us to be at the forefront of the industry. The synergy between us, especially now under Volaris Group’s ownership, propels us forward, allowing us to meet challenges head-on and exceed industry expectations.

What does SIA offer that is most important to you/your company? And what do you most hope to get out of your membership with SIA?

AS: SIA is an invaluable partner to us. The organization provides a credible platform for dialogue and collaboration among industry stakeholders. The research and insights help us keep a finger on the pulse of market trends, upcoming regulations and technology innovations. The networking opportunities that SIA offers are unparalleled. Access to a broad range of industry professionals – from manufacturers and vendors to policymakers – at events like ISC West and Securing New Ground enriches our understanding of the landscape we operate in and allows for strategic partnerships that might not have been possible otherwise.
